Anniversary Celebration RCH Themed Dessert
Where there’s a celebration, there is food. For this occasion, we decided to bake special Red Card Homophobia brownies. Now, we must admit we used a recipe of Maria Elia for inspiration. Here you can read how you make them and at the end you can see our humble result!
These are the ingredients we used. Feel free to experiment with the recipe.
– 200g dark chocolate
– 175g unsalted butter
– 2 lemons
– 4 eggs
– 150g caster sugar
– 25g unsweetened cocoa powder
– 40g plain flower
– 100g chocolate chips
– 175g red marzipan
– Red and white writing icing
– Powdered sugar
Step 1Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/350F/Gas 4.Line a 23cm x 23cm baking tin with parchment paper.
Break the chocolate into small pieces. Dice the butter. Finely grate the lemons. Place the chocolate, butter and lemon zest in a small heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water (do not let it boil) and let it all melt slowly.
Step 3Whisk 3 whole eggs, 1 yolk and the sugar together until pale.Fold the chocolate into the egg mixture. Sift the cocoa powder and plain flour into the chocolate mixture and carefully fold through (this will create some air pockets and make the brownies light). Fold in the chocolate chips. We used white, milk and dark chocolate chips.
Pour into the prepared baking tin and cook for 25 minutes. Check with a fork – the brownies should come out sticky, but not raw. Return to the oven for a further 5 minutes if necessary.
Leave them to cool, before turning out and decorating them.
Roll out the marzipan and cut out the biggest rectangle you can manage. Drape the marzipan over the brownies and use white writing icing to spell out ”RED CARD”. Use our logo as example. Mix a bit of powdered sugar with a tiny amount of water to create very simple icing. Smear it on the bottom of the brownies to form a white field where you then can write ”HOMOPHOBIA” using the red writing icing.
And voilà. Your Red Card Homophobia brownies are done. Enjoy!
P.S. If you decide to bake something else that’s RCH related, we would love to see pictures!
